Just installed Debian sparc on the ultra2. It worked just as expected however, I did not have the 2 9GB disks like I thought I did. So no raid1 on the boot / os volumes... for now that is ok.
This was also the first time that I did an os install over a console port :-) quite fun... I still need to figure out what is up with the cdrom after I boot to the os. The device seems to be there and responds to commands > eject /dev/sr0 but I cant get anything to mount. Oh well I'll play more later.
Also going to look into FreeNAS a bit could be a beter option for some wintell HW I have down stairs.
