We just got back from a fun extended weekend trip to Washington DC to visit Billie Anne and Jason.
Visiting the Nations capitol is always an adventure with little ones. The subway is always a treat for our boys they love riding the trains where ever we take them. We decided to visit the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History for our first afternoon in DC. This was following our planned picnic downtown somewhere. We picked a nice grassy spot in front of the Department of Agg. building, from which we were shooed away by the tax-dollar paid security guard.
Up early Sunday but still it took us too long to get out of the hotel. It was fun finding a Mass to attend. The church we had picked out (St. Matthew's) canceled the 08:30 Mass time and was having the annual Red Mass at 10:00. Since we had other plans for later that day we needed to find a Mass to attend. We ended up with some Krispy Kremes along the way (which was all Matthew wanted to eat from then on). We made it to a Mass then on to the Zoo to meet Billie Anne and Jason. We had fun at the zoo for a while then on to catch another subway to their apartment for pizza making.
It was a fun trip. Its always fun to visit with family. The trip was also a good test for us as we will be heading to SEA at the end of the month, traveling with the same bunch :-) Should be fun.
