I have owned 7 vehicles (not counting the Camry my wife had when we married) in my short existence on this earth. Some were better than others, most had quirks that only I could deal with but, there was always the constant, my very first vehicle a '72 Dodge Custom 100.
This truck was great growing up in MT. It handled dirt roads great, with just enough back-yard mechanicing to get my feet wet in understanding vehicles. And simple enough under the hood to avoid mass confusion and computer chips (318 still the best engine dodge built). After I graduated from High School and moved on to college my parents started asking when I would get rid of it. These questions escalated upon graduating from college and have continued increasing their frequency lately.
My dream with this truck has been to move it to my current residence, overhaul it, and have fun working on it with one or all the boys. This realistically is way off. Who knows when I will be able to get it over here. Currently we are not in a position to have it shipped and or stuck in storage for who knows how long. My parents have made it clear they don't particularly want it around any longer either.
It is hard to part with something like this. I have had many memories with and, future hopes for this vehicle. In the end its just a car (and there will be others) but, it also represents a part of my past. Perhaps parting with this vehicle will enable me to move a bit further along the journey of life with my boys - who knows.
Ok - time to let it go.
