Time for the annual Nicktown picnic.. WOW! another year.
August flew by this year somehow and here we are again piles of chicken bones and pitching dimes at glass cups, which I managed to get 4 of (quite a bargain for 4 or 5 bucks :-)
This year however we added something to the traditional picnic in Nicktown. We're hoping this will be the start of an annual tradition of sorts. We tacked on a bike trip on to our festivities of the extended weekend.
We rode the Ghost Town Trail for the first time with the boys.
thanks Mark for the picture!
We got a bit late of a start but, overall the ride turned out great. To get to the trail is about 30 minutes from our house (we took a 3mi detour on a wrong turn). Once there the setup and departure was simple the boys were raring to go.
This was our first experience on a PA rail trail and if there are more like this then we are going to have some fun on bikes around here :-) The trail is very well packed and maintained. We had no problems the entire way. The lunch stop at Eliza Furnace was fun. The boys got to explore and run in the grass.
